While walking along Tbilisi, we noticed an interesting building on the top of surrounding hills… We found this place on map. It was one of Zurab Tsereteli’s monuments, “Sakartvelos Matiane” memorial.
The monument is located on the top of the hill with a scenic view to the city. So we decided to visit this place in the evening. It should be more spectacular 🙂

As most of Tsereteli’s works, the memorial is really huge and impressive…
“Sakartvelos Matiane” means “Chronicles of Georgia”. Memorial’s bas-reliefs and statues show us scenes from different epochs of Georgian history.
There are not much visitors (at least in March), so the monument seems to be even more grandiose.
Columns, the cross, the church, elders…
– after couple minutes you can find yourself to be the part of this installation.
As we mentioned above, the place has exciting views to the Tbilisi Sea…
…and the city drowning in darkness.
It is already late and we’re getting back to our car in darkness.
